Remakes are notoriously difficult to pull off, so much so that one wonders why people even try in the first place. On the one hand you have something like RGV Ki Aag where the director, in trying to be original and edgy, does to Sholay what Gabbar Singh did to Thakur, obliterating its legacy and cutting off its hands.
